Hacettepe University Environmental Research and Application Center (ERAC) was established on September 1, 1990. The Center mainly deals with pollution prevention and sustainable development research, which includes development of environmental inventories, environmental impacts assessment (EIA) studies and aims to consult industries and local administrations on environmental issues. The center is responsible for the coordination between international organizations and private sector working on environment.

The activities of center can be grouped in projects related to determination of contaminants in air, water and soil pollutants; Development of new technologies on environmental sciences; Performing projects to promote the application of environmental technologies especially in industry and in other fields, Preparing environmental management strategies and plans for specific regions, Education of people working in National Administrational levels, Executing some seminars, congress, symposiums etc. to increase public participation in solution of environmental problems.
