The Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model (Skamarock et al., 2008) is a next-generation mesoscale numerical weather prediction system designed to serve both atmospheric research and operational forecasting needs (www.wrf-model.org). The model serves a wide range of meteorological applications across scales ranging from meters to thousands of kilometers. The next generation Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF) is implemented for PRE-TECT with two complimentary configurations for the provision of daily weather forecasts:

1. The WRF_NMM core is configured at a resolution of 0.09°×0.09° (external grid), 0.03°×0.03° (inner grid) and 38 vertical levels.

2. The WRF_ARW core is configured at a resolution of 12×12 km (external grid), 4×4 km (inner grid) and 31 vertical levels.
